FAQs – Hardwire Kit

1 min read

Q1. How do I choose the correct fuse holder for my vehicle? #

A. Since fuse types vary by vehicle, follow these steps:

  • Check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for fuse box location and fuse type.

  • Remove one of the existing fuses and visually compare it to the included fuse holders.

  • Choose from the supported types: Micro2 / Micro3 / Mini / ATO / Low-profile Mini (LPM).

  • Match the fuse holder based on shape and pin spacing for a secure fit.

💡 Using the wrong fuse holder may result in power failure or damage to the dashcam.

Q2. My dashcam is not turning on. What should I check? #

A. Please follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Verify that the ACC (red) and BATT (yellow) wires are connected to the correct fuse slots.

  2. Check if the fuse is blown and replace it if needed.

  3. Make sure the GND (black) wire is securely grounded to a bare metal bolt on the vehicle chassis.

  4. Confirm that the hardwire cable is firmly connected to the dashcam’s power port.

  5. If still not working, try another fuse slot with the same characteristics.

Q3. Parking Mode is not working. #

A. Please confirm the following:

  • The ACC wire is connected to a fuse that only receives power when ignition is ON.

  • If unsure, test with a multimeter to confirm switched vs. constant power.

  • Go to your dashcam’s settings menu and make sure Parking Mode is enabled.

  • Ensure that motion or impact detection settings are also turned on.

🔧 You may also use Power Magic Pro or an external battery to control Parking Mode power settings more precisely.

Q4. My car battery drains after extended parking. #

A. Since the dashcam continues operating even when the vehicle is turned off, extended parking periods may lead to battery drain. To prevent this, we recommend the following:

  • Use a BlackVue external battery (B-130A) to supply power to the dashcam independently, reducing load on the vehicle’s main battery.

  • Alternatively, enable the Power Saving Mode in your dashcam settings. This feature minimizes power consumption during Parking Mode by entering standby and only recording when an event (motion or impact) is detected.

  • Some models also support low-voltage cutoff, which automatically turns off the dashcam if the vehicle battery drops below a preset threshold.

🔋 For those who frequently use Parking Mode for long durations, combining an external battery with power-saving features is highly recommended for safe and efficient operation.
